A Bike Ride Around D.C.

Do you ever feel like you miss out on the beauty of where you live because you’re so bogged down in your daily routine? No, this is not a commercial for any sort of medicine, but something I’ve been feeling in the midst of our super busy summer. When Bryan suggested an after work bike ride last Monday, it was just what I needed to shake my case of the Mondays. There was zero humidity in the air (which is something very rare for a D.C. summer), and the slight breeze provided great relief especially when it came time to biking back up the steep hill to our apartment.

I played tourist for the night and brought along my real camera to snap up some pics throughout our ride. We biked to Union Market, caught a concert at the Navy Memorial in Penn Quarter, rode by The Mall as screen on the green was beginning, and ended with a break at The Capitol. It’s crazy to believe all of these sites lie barely a mile from where I live, yet I barely make the effort to take it all in. It’s fun to play tourist once in awhile around your own city, you should give it a try!

What is your favorite way explore a city?
