A couple weeks ago my sisters, cousins and I took a trip to LBI on the Jersey shore to visit our cousin Kevin’s new beach house. My family will be going on our annual trip in August, and after 29 consecutive years of vacationing at LBI, we finally know someone who owns a house there! We are so proud of Kevin for making his dreams of owning a beach house a reality, and so grateful for his hospitality and for hosting a trip that we dubbed, “Cousins Weekend.”We arrived late on Friday evening to some breezy weather and cocktails and we started Saturday with some mimosas and fresh hot doughnuts. The doughnuts hold a special place in my heart because they remind me of early mornings when my dad would wake up before the rest of us and pick up a couple dozen from the small family run bakery down the block. The smell of waking up to freshly made glazed, chocolate frosted, jelly filled, and sugared treats takes me right back to the early 90’s and my thick-ass bangs. These memories and traditions are what life is all about, amiright? After mimosas and doughnuts Bryan did some early morning fishing, and then we capped off the afternoon with some sunbathing and a game of touch football. The ocean was definitely nippy so after working up a sweat during football we all held hands and ran into the ocean together. The summer shandy’s could only help ease the chill of the ocean for so long, but numb toes and all, it was so much fun. Check out some more pics below of our weekend!
